I got it!!

My Nikon D3000 with bag and 2 lenses.

Well its been a few days, but I have had a little boy that hasn’t felt well and we are slowly attempting to get out of living in boxes. We went to buy some new things for the house and Dani made me buy the camera that I have been obsessing over for the last couple of months. We found an awesome package that included the camera, two lenses, a memory stick and a bag to carry it all. Pretty much everything that I should ever need, unless I decide to go into photography professionally. A long shot, but you never know. At the rate I’m going (having had the camera two days and barely opened the box) I am going to be an old man before I learn how to use it.

I am really excited to get back into taking photos. I worked at a great little photo shop when I was going to college in Chico. Back then everything was still film and processed in a lab. It was an awesome experience getting to learn about all that goes into taking good pictures from actual photographers throughout the work days. My partner in crime back then was a strange dude named Brian. Now Brian was what you would call anti-social. He hated people. Didn’t like anyone. I have no idea how it came to be that we became good friends. I was even a groomsman at his wedding. Brian and I would go out and experiment with light and exposures after work, usually hiking out to some waterfall, rock, or other natural landscape. It was a great time in addition to all the usual college life hoopla that I got to see a bunch of the natural wonders of northern California.

Now that things are all digital and you have instant gratification when you take the shot I am stoked  to be getting back out there. Now I have a camera that I can really play around with while I am taking pictures of all the waterfalls that I need to visit to cross item #94 off. I shouldn’t say that “I” have a camera as it is the family’s. I also plan on using the camera when Dani and I take a photography class together. Dani is really into learning to take photos and she it extremely excited about having a camera that doesn’t have a delay when you press the shutter button. So I am happy to announce the #154 is officially off the list!

I just got a phone call from The Cartman with a hook up to MacWorld in SF. It should be interesting. I have never been to a MacWorld, but it always looked like a cool expo, and especially this year with Apple unveiling the iPad last week. In addition that is also where my name double Jon Corippo is speaking so I will be getting a chance to meet with him.

I am going to go out on a limb and promise to blog more often. It should be much easier once we are completely moved and settled in a little more in this new house. Then we’ll see how often I can get out for hikes and photos with my wife and kid, my new photographer in crime The Cartmen (check out his 365 project at http://cartman365.tumblr.com/) or some new person that is interested and walks into my life.

P.S. Be prepared for A LOT of pic of my kid to come…as soon as I learn to use that damn thing.
